Although NAD+ is often grouped with peptides in the research-products market, NAD+ is not a peptide. It is a dinucleotide coenzyme composed of two nucleotides linked through phosphate groups: one containing adenine and the other containing nicotinamide.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide exists primarily as the oxidized form NAD+ and the reduced form NADH. This redox pair participates in electron-transfer reactions throughout cellular metabolism. NAD+ acts as an electron acceptor in oxidation-reduction reactions and is converted to NADH during that process.
